SIN CITY: CARNIES is live, completely improvised theatre with a continuing narrative. Set in the dust bowl of the 1931 Great Depression, the comic tale follows the lives, loves and foibles of a quirky troupe of travelling sideshow performers. Meet The Serpentine Snake Lady, The Amazing Mentalist, The Faceless Man, The Celestial Hypnotist, The Human Statue, The Trick Shot Artist, and assorted Barkers, Rousties, Townies, Shills and Marks.
Every scene is made up on the spot, and the story continues on a weekly basis until the finale on May 29. It’s never too late to join in the Carny fun - each hilarious show stands alone, and the program recaps salient plot points. This unique format takes the art of improvisation to a whole new level: hilarious, poignant, and thrilling unscripted theatre. Nominated for an M Award “Favourite New Production.”
The all-star cast is directed live by Ian Ferguson, and features Victoria’s funniest improvisers and comedic actors: Wes Borg, Morgan Cranny, Kirsten Van Ritzen, Christina Patterson, Chris Gabel, Karen Brelsford, Robert Conway, Alan Penty, Christine Upright, Charlie de Pape.
Special guests include: Miss Rosie Bitts, Andrew Bailey, Justin Carter, David MacPherson, Bill Nance, Stu Palfrey, Jim Leard, and Amanda Lisman.
